Welcome 2018-09-03T09:03:32+00:00

On behalf of our students, staff and the governing body I would like to welcome you to our website. It is a great honour and privilege for me to do so, as I am incredibly proud to be a part of the community of Monkseaton Middle School. It is my view that the best schools are those that ensure the children within them are happy, safe and can flourish and strive to be the best they can possibly be. I believe we do exactly that. We are a happy school, our children enjoy their learning and staff enjoy working with them. Our success is built on the foundation of strong relationships and an ethos of support that underpins all that we do. Individuals are encouraged to flourish and ambition and aspiration are developed alongside self-confidence and positive self-esteem. We believe it is important to develop confident and considerate individuals who are aware of their role within the wider community and beyond. We seek to create a community of children and staff who are reflective of their actions and are considerate of others irrespective of background, culture or viewpoint.

We are a Foundation School with a Trust for students aged 9 to 13 (Years 5-8) and are part of the Whitley Bay partnership of schools, made up of the two high schools, four middle schools and eight feeder first schools with whom we work in close partnership. We pride ourselves on a number of distinctive features. We are a smaller than the average sized middle school and this allows us to offer a truly inclusive ethos where the contribution of individual pupils is recognised, valued and celebrated. Class and tutor groups are deliberately kept small, which allows staff to support pupils through their studies, their personal and social development and their extra-curricular activities.

We are able to offer our pupils a wide range of opportunities due the excellent facilities and experiences we provide. The school has purpose built rooms for Art, Technology, Science, Music and ICT. All rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards linked to a PC and have internet access. There is a well-stocked and well used library that children are encouraged to use and do so regularly, supporting our whole school ethos of encouraging all children to read frequently. The school has extensive playing fields for use at lunchtimes and for PE lessons.

Above all, we strive to ensure equality of opportunity for all and to provide an exciting and engaging experience for our pupils in a safe and supportive environment that enables them to thrive and achieve. However, this is only possible when we work together with parents, carers and families to build a network of support. I truly believe that when we work together powerful things can happen and children reap the benefits.

Within our website you can find details of all aspects of our school which I hope are helpful and informative. If you are a prospective parent, carer or pupil and would like any further information or would like to come along for a visit please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for taking the time to find out about us here at Monkseaton Middle School.
